Location & Capabilities

Utilising our vast fabrication expertise, Global Energy Group is positioned at the forefront of the renewable energy industry and is the partner of choice for fixed and floating offshore wind in the UK. Located in the sheltered deep-water boundaries of the Cromarty Firth, the Port of Nigg is Global Energy Group’s leading facility for servicing the offshore renewable energy industry. Having benefited from over £120m investment, the multi-user Green Freeport facility features construction and assembly shops totalling over 17,000m2 and boasts over 1,200 meters of deep-water quayside.

The group's diversification into the Offshore Wind market began in 2007 with the fabrication and assembly of monopiles for one of the UK’s first offshore wind power generation projects, Scroby Sands. Since then, Global Energy Group and the Port of Nigg has supported the deployment of over 3.5GW of offshore wind assets, and most recently completed the fabrication of J-Tube frames for the 882MW Moray West Offshore Wind Farm.

In the Offshore Renewables sector, our highly skilled teams provide specialist fabrication solutions, including:

  • Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Steel Works
  • Turbine and Foundation Component Fabrication
  • Complete design, repair/overhaul services
  • Wave & Tidal turbine fabrication
  • Procurement & supply of offshore infrastructure products
