Facility Overview
Located in the sheltered deep-water boundaries of the Cromarty Firth, the Port of Nigg is Global Energy Group’s leading facility for servicing the energy industry and is widely acknowledged for its multi-sector capability, providing unique turnkey solutions for international energy customers.
Having benefited from over £120m investment from Global Energy Group, the multi-user Port of Nigg facility features construction and assembly shops totalling over 17,000m2 and boasts over 1,200 meters of deep-water quayside. In addition, the world-class facility benefits from one of the largest dry docks of its kind in Europe and can provide flexibility by also operating as a tidal wet dock.
In 2023, the Port of Nigg was awarded green freeport status by the UK and Scottish Governments, as part of the Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport consortium, creating a truly unique value proposition.
Fabrication Facilities
Offering direct access to sheltered deep water quays and a full suite of marine assets and personnel, the facility remains operational 24-hours a day, 365-days-a-year. The covered fabrication workshops at Nigg total 36,000m2, in addition to overhead crane capacity up to 120T and a hook height of up to 35m.
With a land footprint of approximately 1,000,000m², Nigg offers extensive storage and laydown areas, multiple project offices for clients and on-site accommodation. The site also offers key support services, including mobile and crawler cranes, SPMTs, stevedoring, ships agency, and a highly skilled, experienced workforce.

Paint & Blast and Pipe Shops
The Paint and Blast Shops total 2,280m2 in area, and following a recent full refurbishment are climatically controlled and capable of achieving temperatures of up to 28C with relative humidity levels down to 33%.
